About Us

Who are FIT Windpower?


FIT Windpower was formed in 2010 to meet the increasing demands and enquiries following the launch of the FIT scheme. FIT Windpower has experience of working with local communities and stakeholders to build medium-large scale wind turbine projects that provide tangible environmental and economic benefits. FIT windpower is a division of Community Windpower Ltd, a Cheshire based company with an excellent record in developing, financing, constructing and operating medium-large scale wind turbine projects.

The Team

Community Windpower Ltd are headed up by a 'hands on' team of directors who have over 25 years of experience in the wind sector. Their development and operational know-how is supported by a team of twelve project managers with relevant qualifications in civil engineering, geography, environmental science and physics. The development team have the in-house knowledge and experience to take a project from site feasibility to planning application to construction and operation.

Project Experience


Community Windpower currently has 66MW of installed capacity at 2 sites in Scotland, the 18MW Dalry Community Windfarm has been operational since 2006 and the 48MW Aikengall Community Windfarm project was commissioned in 2009. With a further 68MW having recieved full planning permission and over 500MW at various stages of the development process we are extremely experienced in developing successful projects.
